A Sustainability Appraisal evaluates the social, economic, and environmental impacts of strategies and policies in a Local Plan to assess to what extent they align with sustainable development objectives.
In accordance with European and national legislation, the Council is required to carry out a Sustainability Appraisal (which also incorporates Strategic Environmental Assessment) for the new Local Plan.
A Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report, which sets out what the Appraisal should cover, and the Interim Sustainability Appraisal, were published and consulted upon alongside the Issues and Options document. The Appendix C was added after that consultation, to provide responses to the comments made.
A Sustainability Appraisal of the Draft Local Plan for Regulation 18 Consultation was prepared and published alongside the Draft Local Plan. This was also subject to public consultation from 20 September to 15 November 2019.
A final Sustainability Appraisal that informs the Pre-Submission Local Plan has now been prepared and is published below.
