Sustainability Appraisal

A Sustainability Appraisal evaluates the social, economic, and environmental impacts of policies and strategies in a Local Plan to determine to what extent they are in agreement with sustainable development objectives.

In accordance with European and national legislation, the Council is required to carry out a Sustainability Appraisal (which also incorporates Strategic Environmental Assessment) for the new Local Plan.

A Sustainability Appraisal was prepared and published alongside the Draft Local Plan. This was also subject to public consultation from 20 September to 15 November 2019.

Also available is the Scoping Report, which sets out what the Appraisal should cover, and the Interim Sustainability Appraisal, which was published and consulted upon alongside the Issues and Options document. The Appendix C was added after that consultation, to provide responses to the comments made.
