Representations and next steps

The representation period, which ran for 10 weeks up to 5pm on Friday 4 June, has now closed.

All representations will be submitted to the Secretary of State alongside the Local Plan and its supporting documents, together with a summary of the main issues raised during the consultation period. The representations will be considered as part of a public Examination held by an independent Planning Inspector.

Viewing representations

All duly-made representations to the Pre-Submission Local Plan have now been screened, uploaded and are available to view.

To view representations received, please go to the consultation portal and click on 'What People Say' at the top of the page. Use the index of sections on the left to find representations on particular subjects or locations.

Next steps

The Pre-Submission Local Plan, Sustainability Appraisal, and supporting documents will be submitted to the Secretary of State along with the representations received through this public consultation. It is expected that these will be submitted in summer 2021. Once submitted, the Secretary of State will appoint an independent Planning Inspector to examine the Local Plan, with examination expected to be in winter 2021.

Following the examination, the Inspector will issue a decision on whether they consider the Local Plan to be 'sound', and if found 'sound', the final stage will be when the Council decides to formally 'adopt' the Local Plan. This is expected to be in summer 2022.
