Free festive parking

There’s free Sunday car parking for visitors to Royal Victoria Place and Meadow Road car parks, Royal Tunbridge Wells, on each of the five Sundays in December 2023.

Councillor Justine Rutland, Cabinet member for Economic Development said:

I'm pleased that we are able to offer shoppers free parking days over the festive period. Local businesses have told us this is important to them, so it is great we’re able to help.

This is the first Christmas parking offer since 2019 and I hope it encourages lots of people to come into town on Sundays, which is traditionally one of the quieter days for retailers.

One of the wonderful things about Royal Tunbridge Wells at Christmas is that there's masses of things to do as well as shop. Plan a day out and take advantage of amazing food and drink offers; there’s panto at Assembly Hall Theatre and Trinity Theatre, Christmas shows, concerts and church services, and not forgetting skating, curling, a new Ferris wheel and Father Christmas in Calverley Grounds.

Nicky Blanchard, Centre Manager, Royal Victoria Place said:

We are delighted with the Christmas parking initiative and this will be an enormous help to both our retailers and our customers. We very much hope that customers will take advantage of this opportunity to browse our many wonderful stores and visit our magical Santa’s grotto.

Because Sunday is generally a quieter shopping day it was felt that this was the best day to offer free parking. The parking offer has been welcomed by the Business Improvement District.

Royal Victoria Place and Meadow Road car parks are open every day between 7am and 11pm. On the following dates there will be no payment or ticket required:

  • Sunday 3 December
  • Sunday 10 December
  • Sunday 17 December
  • Sunday 24 December (centre opening hours)
  • Sunday 31 December (centre opening hours)

Staff will continue to monitor the car parks on free parking Sundays.
