Calverley Square CPO inquiry decision
The Planning Inspectorate has approved the Council’s planned compulsory purchase of land and acquisition of rights over land for its Calverley Square development.
Following a Public Inquiry which took place earlier this year in February/March a decision by the Inspector was announced today, Friday 3 May.
Independent inspector, Graham Dudley BA (Hons) Arch Dip Cons AA RIBA FRICS, who was appointed by the Planning Inspectorate to conduct the inquiry, recommends that the Order be confirmed.
The Council has been negotiating to acquire land and new rights over certain land as part of its plans to develop a new office building and theatre and has issued Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs). The public inquiry considered objections to these CPOs and heard evidence from both the Council and objectors.
