Hackney carriage fares
With effect from 13 December 2024.
Maximum fares for time and distance
Tariff 1 - may be charged at any time
Initial charge
For the first 7/10 mile (1,232 yards) whilst in motion, the first eight minutes whilst stationary or a combination of both:
£4.80
Subsequent charges
For each 125 yards whilst in motion, each 40 seconds whilst stationary or a combination of both. Whilst in motion, this equates to approximately £2.60 per mile:

Tariff 2 - may be charged for any hiring commencing:
Any time between 11:30pm and 6am / any time on a public holiday (includes Easter Sunday) / any time after 6pm on either Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve.

For the first 7/10 mile (1,232 yards) whilst in motion, the first eight minutes whilst stationary or a combination of both:

Subsequent charges
For each 125 yards whilst in motion, each 40 seconds whilst stationary or a combination of both. Whilst in motion, this equates to approximately £4.20 per mile:

Tariff 3 - may be charged for any hiring commencing:
Tariff 1 + 100% any time on Christmas Day / any time on New Year's Day.
Initial charge
For the first 8/10 mile (1,408 yards) whilst in motion, the first ten minutes whilst stationary or a combination of both:
£9.60
Subsequent charges
For each 135.38 yards whilst in motion, each 40 seconds whilst stationary or a combination of both. Whilst in motion, this equates to approximately £5.20 per mile:

Extra charges - applicable to any of the above tariffs
Weekend hiring
£0.20 per mile, for any hiring commencing at any time Saturday and any time Sunday or Monday before 6am.
Additional passengers
In excess of 4 passengers:
£3.00
Congestion charges, tolls, ULEZ and car parking incurred during hiring
Any charge(s) detailed above, incurred as a result of a passengers instruction may be added to the fare.
Recommended maximum spoilage charge
Any claim for damage and/or spoilage must be a matter between the proprietor and the passenger. The amount charged must be relative to any repairs and/or losses:
