What is Council Tax?

Council Tax is a tax charged on households by the local authority which helps provide certain services for the residents and visitors to the Borough. The majority of Council Tax that we collect from you is used for services provided by Kent County Council, Kent Police and Crime Commissioner and Kent Fire and Rescue Service and some is used by the Parish and Town Councils. Tunbridge Wells Borough Council spends the money received through Council Tax on providing our residents and visitors with the following services;

The Council Tax is worked out on the value of your home and the amount of people in the household.

There are certain Discounts and Exemptions that can be applied for as well as Council Tax Support.
