2 Cumberland Gardens, Tunbridge Wells

A small quiet front garden located in the historic centre of the town, with amazing variety of shrubs, roses, perennials, flowering climbers and succulent displays.  A little pond and a pretty garden building add interest while a wealth of pots create a ‘moveable’ display, which the owners enjoy replanting and repositioning as the mood and the season takes them. Entrant in the Best Front Garden in the Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom competition; awarded Gold in 2017.

5 Dukes Drive, Tunbridge Wells

Created in 2017 from a blank space left by the builder on a modern estate, this back garden has been shaped using organic methods to achieve visually attractive and also productive plot, with fruit trees and modest vegetable areas providing a taste of summer. Elements include a "hot border" of grasses and late summer colour contrasted with a spring and early summer cottage garden border in cooler blues and whites. A small pond encourages amphibians, beneficial insects and birds. The garden has been awarded Gold in the Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom competition Best Back Garden category for the last three years.

9 Royal Chase, Tunbridge Wells

Owners of this garden enjoy many garden styles (cottage, Jekyll, Japanese, rose and even prairie) and have attempted to incorporate something of each of these to provide interest throughout the year. The garden is landscaped with York stone patios, paths and low walls. Herbaceous border are filled with tulips, catmint, Alchemilla, lupins, day lilies, foxgloves, geraniums, peonies, campanulas, phlox, asters, dahlias, fuchsias, monarda and others. The border is backed by Buddleia fallowiana, Philadelphus belle etoile, Cornus variegata and pernettya. There are roses on the pergola and also in the borders. In late winter and spring there is a display of snowdrops, primroses, narcissi (including our native pseudo narcissus) and inevitably in Tunbridge Wells, bluebells spreading everywhere. Fastigiated Junipers, Bay clipped into cones, Euonymus, Cordyline, and a Thuya hedge surrounding the plot provide evergreen structure. Autumn colour is provided by Helianthus, Japanese anemones, a Rowan and varieties of Acer palmatum.  All the above and even more, packed into a third of an acre! A long standing entry in the Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom competition awarded Gold in the Best Back garden category.

10 Birch Close, Tunbridge Wells

Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, a small but beautifully and lovingly tended front garden with an array of pots, planters and baskets containing a wide variety of annuals grown carefully from the plugs: Petunia, Lobelia, Verbena, Nicotiana. Geranium. Tall Gladiolus and Lilies as well as Salix Flamingo shrub and roses climbing on the pergola provide structure to the garden. Gold award winner of Best Planter/Tub/Container category in the Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom competition 2018 and awarded Gold for the last four years in both Best Basket and Best Planter/Tub/Container categories. The garden achieved Champion of the Champions award in 2019.

18 Royal Chase, Tunbridge Wells

New to the Tunbridge Wells Open Gardens tour this year, a Town Garden of a quarter of an acre on sandy soil that was originally Common and woodland. The garden is particularly lovely to view in late spring with Camellias, Acers, Rhododendrons and Alliums in full bloom. There is a large lawn with island beds planted with roses and herbaceous perennials and a small pond with water lilies and goldfish. The owner is a florist and has planted shrubs and annuals specifically with flower arranging in mind.

Ivy Chimneys, Tunbridge Wells

The property 'Ivy Chimneys' dates back to the 1600's. A large Town Centre garden with herbaceous borders and masses of roses set on 3 layers of lawns enclosed in an old walled garden. This property also boasts a large vegetable garden with flowers grown for cutting. Winner of the Best Back Garden in the Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom competition 2017; awarded Gold in the Champions of Champions category in 2018 and Gold in Best Back Garden 2019.

Town Flowers Tunbridge Wells

Unique flower farm producing cut flowers, located just a few minutes from the centre of Tunbridge Wells town. Town Flowers grows high quality seasonal flowers for bouquets and events using sustainable natural methods. All flowers are carefully grown without pesticides. Growers practice no-dig methods, creating a healthy soil to grow flowers that will thrive on clay soil typical for Tunbridge Wells. Only peat free compost is used in plant propagation and all materials used in arrangements and packaging are compostable. Take a tour around the cut flower beds.

Willicombe Park, Tunbridge Wells

Set in four acres of gardens in Royal Tunbridge Wells is Audley Willicombe Park retirement village, with a collection of mature trees in a historic landscape. At the heart of the village is Willicombe House, a refurbished Victorian villa that was originally built by William Willicombe in the 1870's. The site was formerly the St Christopher’s Nursery Training College until it closed in 1976. There is a signposted walk around the site which includes a woodland walk. The grounds were awarded Gold in the Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom competition in Best Business Grounds category in 2019.
