Sustainability Appraisal
A Sustainability Appraisal evaluates the social, economic, and environmental impacts of strategies and policies in a Local Plan to assess to what extent they align with sustainable development objectives.
In accordance with national legislation, the Council is required to carry out a Sustainability Appraisal (which would also incorporate an Environmental Outcomes Report (formerly known as Strategic Environmental Assessment)) for the Royal Tunbridge Wells Town Centre Plan.
The Council has started work on a Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report for the Royal Tunbridge Wells Town Centre Plan and this will be subject to a separate focussed consultation, and will be published on the website in due course.
However, as preparation of the Royal Tunbridge Wells Town Centre Plan progresses, a series of Sustainability Appraisals will be produced and more widely consulted upon to support each stage of Plan preparation.
