New Mayor elected
David represents the Culverden ward. He has sat on a number of council committees including chairing the Finance, Innovation and Transformation Cabinet Advisory Board. David’s partner Linda Seely will accompany him as Mayoress.
David has lived in Tunbridge Wells since 1987, he has three children. David describes himself as a modest golfer, and as a keen cyclist he has cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats and has completed Ride London 100 four times.
As well as representing the borough of Tunbridge Wells, it is customary for the Mayor to support local charitable causes. David has chosen Royal Tunbridge Wells Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets (TS Brilliant) as the charity he will fundraise for.
Well known in the local area, the sea cadets are celebrating their 90th anniversary this year and they have recently been awarded the Freedom of the Borough. As well as fund-raising for the sea cadets, David has also reintroduced the tradition of having a sea cadet supporting him at civic events during his term of office.
David takes over as Mayor from Councillor Nancy Warne who raised over £3,500 for her charity Wellbeing in the Weald during her term of office.
Councillor Beverley Palmer who represents Hawkhurst Sandhurst and Benenden ward was elected as Deputy Mayor.
