Marking Holocaust Memorial Day in Tunbridge Wells
Holocaust Memorial Day on Friday 27 January was marked by a short ceremony at the War Memorial in Royal Tunbridge Wells, following by readings, reflections and music in The Amelia Scott.
Local organiser Anne Krisman Goldstein welcomed the group of around 70 people who had gathered to witness the commemoration and she spoke about Ordinary People, the theme of Holocaust Memorial Day 2023.
The Mayor, Godfrey Bland, then spoke movingly of the importance of ensuring horrors like the Holocaust are never repeated before laying a wreath of lilies in memory of all who have perished in genocides.
