Tunbridge Wells U13 Girls Cricket Team presented with certificate

Councillors hear about the achievements of local young cricketers.

Following their amazing performance at Lords Cricket Ground earlier this year where they won the ECB T20 Cup in their age group, members of Tunbridge Wells Cricket Club U13 Girls Team were invited to the Full Council meeting on Wednesday 13 December 2023 to receive a certificate in recognition of their achievement.

The team was welcomed to the town hall by the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, Hugh Patterson.

Councillor Pamela Wilkinson, Cabinet member for Sport, Leisure and Health presented the certificate, saying:  
‘As the portfolio holder for sport I have great pleasure in introducing the Tunbridge Wells under 13 cricket team. The girls have had an amazing year having won the ECB National Under 13 Girls T20 Championship at Lords in September.

The team had to play eight gruelling rounds starting in early May. I understand from the very proud and dedicated coaches that the most pleasing aspect, obviously other than the magnificent win, was the fact that every team player contributed along the way, either with bat, ball or behind the wicket.’
