Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Public Health England and the NHS are leading on the health response to coronavirus.

They are well-prepared to deal with the virus and the NHS has expert teams of staff and specialist hospital units around the country ready to receive and care for patients with any highly infectious disease.

Public Health England is providing regular updates and advice and you can see this on the NHS website.

The Council has policies and plans for any eventuality and is part of the county-wide response team that includes Public Health England and the NHS.

Prevent the virus spreading

You can help prevent the virus spreading:

  • Wash your hands more frequently and for at least 20 seconds
  • Use hand sanitiser if soap and water are not available
  • Catch it, Bin it, Kill it – cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or sleeve (not your hands), throw the tissue in the bin, then wash your hands
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth if your hands aren’t clean.

Worried about symptoms?

If you’re worried about your symptoms follow the advice on the NHS website. Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Call 111 if you need to speak to someone.
