Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom takes Gold
Multiple awards for Royal Tunbridge Wells and its parks.
It was another successful year for Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom and the Council at the South and South East in Bloom awards ceremony, held at the Amex Stadium on Friday 13 September 2019.
For the seventh consecutive year, Royal Tunbridge Wells town received a Gold award in the large town category, and Dunorlan Park received a Gold award in the large park category. Dunorlan Park was also the overall winner of its category.
The town’s other parks also received awards:
- Calverley Grounds: Silver Gilt.
- Grosvenor and Hilbert: Gold, and the RHS Parks and Green Spaces award.
- The Grove: Silver Gilt.
Other green spaces in the town took their share of the awards too:
- Tunbridge Wells Cemetery: Gold award.
- Woodbury Park: Silver Gilt.
- Tunbridge Wells Common: Gold, and winner of the category.
A special discretionary award was made by the judges to Sherbourne Close, for maintenance and community involvement.
Council Leader Alan McDermott said:
‘Once again this is a wonderful achievement by the Bloom group and the Council’s parks team. In the week that we learnt of the death of Councillor Ronen Basu, who relaunched the Bloom campaign back in 2010, these awards are a fitting tribute to him.’
