Film classification
Films that are to be shown to a public audience must be given a classification rating.
If you’re a film maker or promoter, you can apply to the following:
- British Board of Film Classification or
- The local authority for the area where the film is being shown
Apply for a film classification
To apply for the classification or reclassification of a film to be shown in the Borough of Tunbridge Wells, you must make your request in writing on the Council’s application form a minimum of 28 days before the proposed screening. The Council can only guarantee a film will be classified in time for it to be screened if it receives the request within the 28-day notice period.
Applicants are advised to read the Council’s policy before submitting the application form.
The Council will issue a Notice of Determination of the application within five working days from the date of the viewing.
