Walking and cycling
Walking
Walking has a huge number of benefits for individuals, for the environment and for the road network.
More of us walking will mean a healthier population, less crowded roads, and less pollution from traffic.
For more information about walking routes in your area see the Find a walk page on the Kent County Council website.
Cycling
We have two local cycling centres at:
- Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest
Great for both a family day out on the 6 miles (10km) surfaced cycle track and for those who want more of a challenge with 7.5 miles (12km) of off road tracks amongst the trees. - Bewl Water
The largest area of inland water in the South East with a 12.5 mile (20km) route around the reservoir. There is also a more challenging 2 mile (3.2km) stretch of steep climbs.
For these and similar routes, maps, clubs and events in Kent visit the Kent County Council’s Cycle Pages.
