Pest Control Service Privacy Notice

Details of what information we collect from you, what we do with it and who it might be shared with

What information do we collect from you?

We need to know your name and address and financial information such as whether you claim any type of benefits to enable us to process the pest control treatment with our contractor free of charge.

Why do we collect this information?

We provide pest control services to the residents of the borough who are in receipt of certain benefits. This is because it is in the wider public interest to do so.

When you request the service from us, you are giving us your consent to use your personal information. You can tell us to stop using your information at any time, but we may have to stop providing the service to you.

Occasionally, we will use your personal information because we have identified a public health hazard. We do not need your consent to do this, but if possible, we will let you know we are using your information in this way.

Who might we share your information with?

We may share your information with the following:

  • Maidstone Borough Council stores your information on our behalf. You can view their privacy information here.
  • Monitor Pest Control Ltd, our contractor, will also use your information. They will not use your information for any other reason than to provide you with the service you have requested, and they still have to look after your information in the same way. You can view their privacy information here.

If you make a payment to us, Civica will also use your information, but only on our instructions. They won’t use it for any other reasons, and they have to look after it in the same way we would. You can view their privacy information here.

What do we do with your information?

We use your information to assess your application for the free discretionary pest service. We will not use it for any other purpose without your consent, or without telling you first.

Sometimes we have to give it to other authorities, organisations or people. This would be for the prevention or detection of crime, or because of legal matters, for example. We do not need your consent to do this, but if we can, we'll let you know if we've passed your information on.

How long to we keep hold of your information?

We will only keep your information for as long as we need it. Once we no longer need it, we will retain it for a set period (a retention period) but not use it. When the retention period expires we will delete your information from our records. You can view our Retention Schedule here.

How can I access the information you hold about me, find out further information on privacy rights, or raise a concern?
