Green Flags flying in Council parks

Category: News Published: Wednesday 15 July 2026

Green Flags will be flying over the Council’s parks following the announcement on Tuesday 14 July 2026 that these outstanding green spaces have been awarded Green Flags for another year.

The Green Flags have been awarded to:

  • Calverley Grounds
  • Dunorlan Park
  • Grosvenor & Hilbert Park
  • St John’s Recreation Ground
  • The Grove
  • Woodbury Park Cemetery

As well as the Green Flag Dunorlan Park and Grosvenor & Hilbert Park were given the Green Heritage Accreditation, supported by Historic England, which recognises the work being done to manage its historic features.

The Green Flag accreditation is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces. Its award scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the volunteers, Friends groups and the Council team that care for these places that so many of our parks have received the award.

Cabinet member Councillor Pamela Wilkinson said: ‘As the Cabinet Member for parks, I am absolutely thrilled that six of our borough’s parks and green spaces have once again achieved the prestigious Green Flag Award standard. This national recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our parks team, volunteers, friends groups and all those who help care for these valued community spaces. I am particularly pleased that Dunorlan Park and Grosvenor & Hilbert Park have also received a Green Heritage Accreditation as the award not only celebrates the parks’ beauty but also their rich history. Tunbridge Wells’ parks and green spaces contribute significantly to making our town the unique and beautiful place that it is. We know how much these areas mean to our residents and, as these awards demonstrate, we remain deeply committed to maintaining these exceptionally high standards for everyone to enjoy.

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, sets the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.

Awards are given on an annually and winners must apply each year to renew their Green Flag Award status.
