EV charging points spark change at John Street Car Park

Category: News Published: Thursday 13 August 2026

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is pleased to announce the installation of eight 11kw electric vehicle charging points (EVCPs) in John Street Car Park, in the St John’s area of Tunbridge Wells. View the location of the car park

The EVCPs, which went live on 5 August, were installed and managed by the Council’s ChargePoint Operator Believ and paid for using a national government grant. We continue to work on installing further charging points across the borough to enable residents to switch to electric vehicles and reduce their carbon emissions.

The project contributes towards one of the high level ambitions in TWBC’s Borough Climate Change Strategy, which was adopted in 2025. The ambition was to grow EV chargepoint provision to at least 685 public sockets by 2030, 1,448 by 2040 and 1,631 by 2050.
