New Mayor elected

Councillor Nancy Warne is the new Mayor of Tunbridge Wells having been elected at the Annual Meeting of the Council on Wednesday 29 May.

Nancy represents the Cranbrook Sissinghurst and Frittenden ward. First elected as a councillor in 2019 she has sat on a number of Council committees and has been Deputy Leader of the Council. Nancy’s husband Matthew Warne will accompany her as Mayor’s Consort.

As well as representing the borough of Tunbridge Wells, it is customary for the Mayor to support local charitable causes. Nancy has chosen Wellbeing in the Weald as the charity she will fundraise for. Wellbeing in the Weald was set up in 2019 to advance wellbeing and promote social inclusion in the Wealden town of Cranbrook and surrounding areas, by working with the local community. When she announced her support for the charity Nancy  said ‘their aims and objectives resonate with many of my own thoughts and experiences’.

Nancy takes over as Mayor from Councillor Hugh Patterson who, together with wife Sandra, raised over £5,000 for Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Charity and Paddock Wood Community Advice Centre during his term of office.

Councillor David Osborne was elected as Deputy Mayor.
