Solar Together Kent
It is free to register for Solar Together and there is no obligation to go ahead with an installation.
Registration is open now and closes on 27 October 2023.
How the scheme works
Solar Together Kent is an innovative scheme offering high-quality solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery storage. It is a group-buying scheme, which brings households together to get high-quality solar panels at a competitive price, helping you through the process and keeping you informed at every stage.
- Register online to become part of the group, free and without obligation.
- A reverse auction is held where pre-approved UK solar PV suppliers submit bids for the work. They are able to offer competitive pricing as the volume and geographic concentration makes it possible for them to realise greater efficiencies, which they pass on with lower prices for installations.
- After the auction, you will be emailed a personal recommendation which is specific to the details you submitted in your registration. You decide if you want to accept the recommendation.
- If you choose to accept the recommendation, the winning installer will contact you to survey your roof and set a date to install your solar PV system.
Councillor Jayne Sharratt Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Carbon Reduction and Sustainability said: ‘Investing in solar panels can drastically reduce your energy bills so you don't need to worry when energy prices rise. It's an inspiring thought that our homes can become mini power stations, giving us the security of energy independence at the same time as doing the right thing to protect our planet by helping to decarbonise the grid.’
Planning permission
Solar PV installations may be considered a 'permitted development' and will generally not need planning permission. However, in some cases, such as in conservation areas and on listed buildings, planning permission may be required. For planning information please visit our planning and building control page.
Do you already have solar panels installed?
You can also register to have battery storage added to your existing solar panels to maximise the benefits of your system.
iChoosr
The council has partnered with iChoosr Ltd, who are independent experts in group-buying, to bring Solar Together to the borough’s homeowners.
This innovative scheme builds on six years of highly successful Solar Together programmes run across the UK. To date Solar Together has delivered over 22,000 installations and over 460,000 tonnes of avoided lifetime carbon emissions.
