Armistice Day

The Mayor, Councillor Godfrey Bland, will be joining representatives of the Royal British Legion at the War Memorial in Royal Tunbridge Wells on Friday 11 November from 10.45am to commemorate the Armistice. There will be a short ceremony and the traditional two minutes’ silence will be marked by the sounding of maroons at 11am.

At 11.30am the Mayor and members of the Royal British Legion will lay wreaths at the Victoria Cross Grove in Dunorlan Park, Royal Tunbridge Wells.

All are welcome.

Remembrance Sunday

You are invited to the service of Remembrance, Thanksgiving and Dedication which will take place at 10.45am on Sunday 13 November at the War Memorial in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

The service will be conducted by Chaplain Gareth Jones 129 (Tunbridge Wells) Squadron Air Training Corps, Pastor of the Pantiles Baptist Church.

Wreaths will be laid by members of the civic party, representatives of service organisations, political parties and local groups, and members of the public.

Following the service and laying of wreaths there will be a March Past for Service and other organisations to pay their respects. The Mayor Councillor Godfrey Bland will take the salute from the War Memorial.

Event at Tunbridge Wells Cemetery

At 12.30pm members of the public are invited to attend Tunbridge Wells Cemetery for the Civic Ceremony during which the Mayor will lay wreaths at the four War Memorials in the Cemetery. The first wreath will be laid by the Mayor at the Cross of Sacrifice in the WW2 Garden of Remembrance, followed by other organisations laying their wreaths.

There are 73 Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) WW1 war graves, 63 CWGC WW2 war graves and 18 civilian WW2 war graves in the Cemetery.

Traffic and road closures

There will be disruption to traffic in Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre on Sunday 13 November, particularly in the area around the Town Hall. Please be aware that roads may be closed at times from around 10am until approximately midday and on-street parking may be restricted. You are advised to allow extra time for journeys.
