High Street enhancements in Royal Tunbridge Wells

The red and white barriers in the High Street, Royal Tunbridge Wells are being removed in readiness for new planters and parklets to be installed.

The implementation of these enhancements has taken longer than originally anticipated and we thank you for your patience. During this time we have taken the opportunity to make some amendments to the scheme to respond to the issues raised by residents and businesses in response to the consultation that we undertook earlier in the year.

One-way traffic

Please note that the one-way traffic restriction will remain in place (northbound).

Timetable for work

Work to remove the barriers and install the planters and parklets will be done at night in order to minimise any inconvenience to residents and businesses.

The High Street will be closed (access only) from 7pm:

  • Thursday 15 July and Friday 16 July and, if required, Monday 19 July – barriers removed
  • Tuesday 20 July and Wednesday 21 July – planters installed

Day time works with access maintained:

  • Monday 9 August and, if required, Tuesday 10 August – parklets installed

We apologise for any inconvenience that the installation work may cause, we have been reassured by the contractors that this will be kept to a minimum and that access for residents will be maintained at all times.

We hope that when the work is finally complete you will feel that the enhancements are a great improvement.

Please contact us at businesscovid19@tunbridgewells.gov.uk if you have any further questions about the information above, either before or during the works.
