Garden waste collections restart
Garden waste collections will resume across Tunbridge Wells borough from Monday 18 May.
We’re pleased to confirm that following the temporary suspension of the garden waste service due to the impact of coronavirus on staff numbers, collections will begin again from Monday 18 May. Residents who are signed up to the service are being asked to put their garden bin out by 7am on the scheduled collection day as they did before the service was halted.
Although you may have more garden waste than usual please do not put out additional bags of garden waste, please store it and add it to future collections.
Thank you for your patienceCllr Matthew Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Sustainability said: ‘It was a difficult decision to suspend the garden waste service at a time when people were turning to gardening because of the lockdown. But the decision freed up experienced collection crews to focus on refuse, food, recycling and clinical waste collections to keep them running smoothly. It is a relief for all of us that the service can now be restored, and I would like to thank all subscribers for their patience.’
Because of the temporary halt in the service the Council will be automatically extending subscriptions to cover the period when there were no collections.
