Roadworks on Monson Road, Royal Tunbridge Wells
Monson Road closed until Tuesday 23 April 2019.
Work on the project to improve the public realm in Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre is now underway.
As part of these works, Monson Road, between the junctions of Mount Pleasant Road and Monson Way, will be closed, until Tuesday 23 April.
Why is the road closed?
The road is being closed so that the traffic island can be removed and a granite kerb at the same level as the footways can be constructed. This will provide a level crossing for pedestrians from Mount Pleasant Road to Civic Way.
The bus stops will be temporarily relocated to Crescent Road, by the police station, and to Lansdowne Road and Calverley Road.
Completion date
The completion date for the whole project is 21 September.
The planned improvements to the area around the war memorial, including Civic Way, Monson Road and Mount Pleasant Road will take 34 weeks in total and is being done in various phases.
Further information as the work progresses will be published on our website and in Local, our residents’ magazine.
Kent Highways is carrying out the work on behalf of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. In the event of any problem during the works or in an emergency they can be contacted on 03000 41 81 81, traffic.schemes@kent.gov.uk.
