More about pond dipping at Dunorlan Park
The dipping pond in is the smaller of the two found in the park. It is fed by the chalybeate spring, which runs across the park. The pond dipping platforms have been installed to allow for the safest method of pond dipping and reduced disturbance. Please only pond dip off the two platforms.
Pond dipping equipment can be borrowed from the park. Equipment sets include nets, trays, sampling pots and water creatures ID sheets – all you need to explore the amazing pond life.
Preparing for pond dipping
Before the activity starts the group leader should prepare a risk assessment. A risk assessment for pond dipping at Dunorlan Park is included in the activity pack that will be provided with each booking.
The RSPB website has an introduction to pond dipping, activity sheets, ID sheets and pond life fun facts.
