Business Decarbonisation Grant Scheme now available

The second round of the Business Decarbonisation Grant Scheme, offering grants of up to £2,499 to assist businesses in their decarbonisation efforts, is now open for applications.

The grant scheme supports the ambition of the recently adopted Strategic Plan which says: ‘We will continue our work to create a cleaner, green and carbon zero future for our Borough’.

The grant scheme is available to local enterprises within the Borough that are implementing new decarbonisation technologies and practices.

Suitable projects include (but are not limited to):

  • Solar panel installation
  • Business electric vehicles
  • EV charging
  • LED installation
  • Insulation installation
  • Water saving measures
  • Net zero plan development

Councillor Rob Wormington, Cabinet Member for Environment & Sustainability, said: ‘I am delighted to support the second round of our Business Decarbonisation Grant Scheme, which represents a significant step forward in our commitment to tackling climate change at the local level. We recognise that small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of our local economy, and this scheme is designed to empower them to take meaningful action on carbon reduction. By helping businesses invest in energy-efficient technologies, sustainable materials, and greener ways of working, we are not only supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy, but also helping them become more resilient, competitive, and future-ready. We are committed to helping drive down emissions across our local area, and this grant scheme is just one of many initiatives aimed at achieving this goal. I strongly encourage all eligible businesses to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of a cleaner, more sustainable future for our community.

Councillor Justine Rutland, Cabinet Member for Economic Development ‘We know businesses across the borough are keen to reduce their carbon footprint, so we are very pleased to be able to offer this scheme for a second year. In 2024, grants were awarded to some fantastic projects, including LED lighting, an energy-efficient draught beer system and electric chainsaws, and we are hoping to do the same again.

This second round of the scheme closes for applications on 16 June 2025.
