Council ahead of the field in publishing accounts
The council is pleased to report that it is one of only a handful of councils who have been able to publish their 2022/23 accounts by the required date of 30 September 2023.
Just three out of 467 councils met the statutory deadline to publish their accounts with an auditor’s certificate or opinion. The statement of accounts gives information on overall finances and how public money has been looked after during the year, delays in the publishing process mean that accountability for local government spending can be hindered.
Being one of the councils that met the deadline means that our residents can be reassured that funds are in good order, no governance or financial issues have been picked up and the accounts have had a clean bill of health. Sound finances are the foundation for ensuring services can be provided and assets maintained.
