Trees need water too!
The Council is backing the call from the Association of Tree Officers encouraging people to water their trees.
Newly planted trees need to be watered regularly over the summer months if they are going to become established and thrive. As a general rule trees should receive at least 50 litres of water per week in May, June, July and August. And if you have a tree outside your house, or one that you pass on your daily walk, then you can help by watering that too.
Harvested rain water is ideal and bath water or washing up water is also suitable. A good time to water is in the early morning or evening.
