How to throw a Coronation party fit for a King

The TWBC Culture and Visit Tunbridge Wells Team share their top tips to throw a Royal-themed party to celebrate the Coronation in Tunbridge Wells.

If you're planning on hosting a Royal-themed party in Tunbridge Wells, what better way to do so than by throwing your very own Coronation celebration? With a little bit of creativity, you can transform your space into a regal palace and celebrate in style. Here's how to host your own Coronation party in Tunbridge Wells:

  1. Create the Atmosphere: To set the tone for your Coronation party, start by decorating your space with a red carpet, banners, balloons and other regal-looking decorations. You can also add some classic British touches such as Union flags or bunting. Consider playing some classical music in the background to really set the scene.

  2. Dress the Part: The most important thing after creating the ambiance is to dress up like Royalty! Encourage your guests to come dressed in fancy dress with Royal hats, fascinators and other accessories. You can also decorate the tables with elegant centrepieces, such as a crown or a sceptre or other Royal regalia.

  3. Serve Royal-Themed Food and Drinks: No Coronation party is complete without a Royal feast. Consider serving traditional British fare such as bangers and mash, scones with clotted cream and jam, or a classic Victoria Sponge cake. You can also serve drinks, such as Pimms or gin and tonic, fit for a queen.
Find some Royally approved recipes here.
  4. Add Some Fun: To add to the festivities, consider playing some Royal-themed games such as ‘Pin the Crown on the Monarch’ or ‘Royal Bingo.’ You can also set up a photo booth area with props like crowns or feather boas, where guests can take party selfies to share on social media.
