Tunbridge Wells parks retain their Green Flag Awards in 2020
Once again Grosvenor and Hilbert Park, St John’s Park, Dunorlan Park, Calverley Grounds, Woodbury Park Cemetery and The Grove have retained their Green Flag for another year.
Dunorlan Park also has the much-coveted Green Heritage Site Accreditation for its management of the historic features. The accreditation is supported by Historic England.
Councillor Jane March, Cabinet member with responsibility for Culture, Leisure and Economic Development said: ‘We are very proud of our parks and this year more than ever we recognise how important a role they play in the community. The Green Flags are achieved through the amazing support of the Friends groups and the hard work of the parks team and contractor’s staff and my grateful thanks go to them all.’
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for their management across the United Kingdom and around the world.
The Green Flag means they are good quality parks and green spaces that are managed in an environmentally sensitive and sustainable way. They are welcoming places that are healthy, safe and secure for all members of the community to use.
