Vehicle enforcement in Royal Tunbridge Wells

Monitoring vehicles going through Mount Pleasant Road near the war memorial in Royal Tunbridge Wells, where recent public realm works have been completed, begins this week.

The Council’s Parking Team has confirmed that the CCTV safety car will be used to monitor the restricted area regularly from Tuesday 10 March 2020.

Inform and educate
The approach in the first instance will be to inform and educate drivers about the restrictions before any formal enforcement takes place. The team is keen to spread the word about the start of enforcement so that drivers aren’t caught unawares.

If you are the owner of a vehicle in the area during the restricted hours you will be sent a letter advising you of the restrictions. The letter will explain that if the vehicle is in this area during the restricted hours on a future occasion it may result in you receiving a Penalty Charge Notice for £60.

The public realm works have made the area more pedestrian friendly, with wider pavements and fewer bus stops.

What is the restriction?
Only buses, taxis and bicycles may enter the restricted area between 9am and 6pm, on every day of the week.
