Parking permit FAQs
Enforcement will continue as normal, however, you can purchase a resident parking permit online (subject to terms and conditions). You can also apply for visitor vouchers only which are sold in sets of 10 days or 20 half days.
The terms and conditions of resident parking permits continue to apply. We do not offer transfers or refunds for resident parking permits or visitors vouchers under any circumstances.
All resident permit applications are made through our online permit system. Once you have uploaded the required documents (1 x proof of residency and 1 x proof of vehicle ownership) and paid by debit/credit card, the permit will be issued immediately. Your documents will be reviewed after issue. The system does not require any paper permits to be displayed as the Civil Enforcement Officer can see that you have a valid permit by scanning your vehicle registration number into their handheld device.
We have opened up Great Hall car park to all Zone A resident permit holders from 24 March 2020. Your permit will be valid for use in this car park 24 hours a day seven days a week until the government advises that the social distancing restrictions currently in place are being relaxed at which point we will contact you again.
We have opened up Crescent Road car park to all Zone C, G and B/C resident permit holders from today. Your permit will now be valid for use in this car park 24 hours a day seven days a week, until the government advises that the social distancing restrictions currently in place are being relaxed, at which point we will contact you again.
We appreciate that many more people need to work from home. We need to keep permit bays available for our residents and ensure that driveways are not blocked. Roads need to be kept clear so that emergency service vehicles can get to where they’re needed, bin lorries have access to collect recycling and waste, and delivery vehicles can get through to supermarkets and those who are self isolating. We can only do this effectively by maintaining an enforcement presence and are therefore asking our Civil Enforcement Officers to carry on patrolling the borough for the time being.
Anyone who does receive a parking ticket can appeal online and we’ll be taking a lenient approach where people have been affected by the current situation.
We now have agreement with British Land for all Zone B resident permit holders to be able to park in the Royal Victoria Place car park from today.
Your permit will be valid for use in this car park 7 days a week until the government advises that the social distancing restrictions currently in place, are being relaxed, at which point we will contact you again. The opening hours are being restricted due to the closure of all but essential shops, so there will only be access to your vehicle in Royal Victoria Place between 7am and 7pm and we would ask you to park only on levels zero, 1,2,6,7 and 8. This will ensure that levels 3,4 and 5 are kept available for those who need to shop for medicines or food. We will be enforcing this, so please only park on the appropriate levels.
Annual parking season tickets
We are unable to suspend any annual season tickets, but can cancel them as at the last working day of any month.
You can cancel the season ticket at any time. Refunds for annual permits paid by debit/credit card upfront will be processed for all whole months remaining, less the £50 admin fee.
If your current permit is for a car park with a waiting list we cannot guarantee that if/when you reapply, the space will still be available.
