Applicable for the period of Tier 3 restrictions from 2 December 2020

As a result of the Tier 3 restrictions from 2 December, there are further Local Restrictions Support Grants available, on a 14-day basis (as opposed to every 28 days), for businesses that remained closed during this period. Businesses can submit an application for two payments for 2 December to 15 December, and 16 December to 29 December. This crosses into the time period in Tier 4 restrictions but the same level of funding is available.

Businesses that have already applied for the LRSG Closed for the period 5 November to 1 December (under the November national restrictions) should have already received direct communication from us, inviting them to apply for the Tier 3 grant.

Applicable for the period of Tier 4 restrictions from 20 December 2020

As of 20 December 2020, Tunbridge Wells was placed into Tier 4 restrictions.

Businesses that previously have applied for the LRSG Closed should have already received a direct communication from us inviting them to apply for the Tier 4 grant.

Businesses that were required to close in Tier 3 restrictions and have already applied for the period up until 29 December, will receive an email from us inviting them to apply for the six-day period up until national restrictions were introduced on 5 January 2021.

Businesses that were not eligible for the LRSG Closed under Tier 3 restrictions, but were then required to close under Tier 4 restrictions will receive an email from us inviting them to apply for the 16-day period of Tier 4 restrictions from 20 December until 5 January 2021.

Applicable for the period of national restrictions from 5 January 2021

As a result of the national lockdown imposed from 5 January, the LRSG Closed will be paid for six weeks from this date (until 15 February).  Businesses required to close in England will be eligible for the following:

  • £2,001 per 42 days for properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under
  • £3,000 per 42 days for properties with a rateable value of between £15,001 - £51,000
  • £4,500 per 42 days, for properties with a rateable value of £51,001 or over

Businesses will be contacted via the email address that was previously provided to us for the above instalments of the LRSG Closed.

As a result of the 3rd national lockdown announced from 5 January, the government is also providing additional one off grant funding under the Closed Business Lockdown Payment scheme (CBLP). This is for businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors which are rates registered and have been forced to close as a result of the restrictions (the same eligibility criteria as the LRSG Closed). These businesses will also be eligible for the following:

  • £4,000, for properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under
  • £6,000, for properties with a rateable value of between £15,001 - £51,000
  • £9,000, for properties with a rateable value of £51,001 or over

There is one application form for the latest instalment of the LRSG (Closed) and the Closed Business Lockdown Payment, this does not need to be applied for separately. If your application is successful, this funding will be transferred to you at the same time but in two separate payments.

Ongoing LRSG payments from 15 February 2021 onwards

We are awaiting an update from central government as to how the ongoing LRSG payments will be distributed.

We will update this page when we have received further information about this.
