High Hedges

There are occasions where disputes arise between neighbours as a result of High Hedges.  The government has produced guidance on how to resolve disputes with neighbours.

If you find yourself in this position, and having followed the advice on the GOV.UK website, you have not been able to resolve the situation, you may as a last resort make a complaint to the Council.

The Planning Service will investigates complaints under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 regarding high hedges. Where appropriate, Remedial Notices can be issued, requiring a hedge to be reduced in height or to be managed in accordance with a long term maintenance plan. Please note that the Council makes a charge for this service, and that paying the fee does not guarantee a particular result.

The Borough Council will obtain specialist arboricultural advice before issuing any Remedial Notice.
