Getting Around

Disabled Permit Holders park free at all times, in all car parks, provided that a valid blue badge is clearly displayed.

The following voluntary organisations may be able to help with transport and getting around.

Compaid Trust

The Kent Karrier is a fully accessible dial-a-ride service which takes its members directly from their door to the nearest town centre. The Kent Karrier service is run by Compaid on behalf of Kent County Council.

Rural Access to Services Programme

A key partner to this programme - Action with Communities in Rural Kent has created a comprehensive database of community transport schemes operating across the Kent and Medway area. Dial 2 Drive

Dial 2 Drive is a Community volunteer transport service for people  unable to access public transport due to older age, illness or disability living in West Kent. For more information please visit the Dial 2 Drive website

You may be eligible for a free disabled persons bus pass.

Arriva Kent & Sussex

The main bus service operator in the area is Arriva. Arriva are gradually introducing accessible buses on more routes and services. For details, visit the Arriva website or their travel shop in Tunbridge Wells.

Traveline

The Traveline website provides local and national UK passenger transport information, which can be used for planning a journey by bus, coach or train.

The majority of trains in the Borough are operated by Southeastern Railways, for general information including timetables please contact Southeastern Customer Services

Stations

Royal Tunbridge Wells Station

  • Parking, including disabled bays are available on both sides of the station.
  • Both platforms are wheelchair accessible, platform two is accessed by a lift.
  • Disabled toilet.

High Brooms Station

  • Parking, including disabled bays are available on platform one.
  • No wheelchair or level access is available for platform two.
  • No toilets.

Paddock Wood Station

  • Parking, including disabled bays is available on both sides of the station.
  • Both platforms are wheelchair accessible.
  • Disabled toilet.

Shopmobility is a charity which makes shopping more accessible in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

There is a Shopmobility unit located inside Royal Victoria Place shopping centre, on level 1 opposite Next which has manual wheelchairs and scooters for hire.
