Planning Policy ANPR Survey Privacy Notice

The information on this page explains how Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera infrastructure and data is used, stored and transferred by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and its partners. It also describes how long that information is normally kept and the limited circumstances in which Tunbridge Wells Borough Council may disclose it.

What information do we collect from you?

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has commissioned an ANPR survey to be conducted using cameras at the locations identified in the map in Appendix 1. The survey will last for 1 day on 11 December 2018 with data being captured throughout that day.

The ANPR cameras capture number plate data from vehicles. This is recorded in images via the rolling cameras recording and transported in to text data using software managed by the commissioned survey company. The vehicle registration number (VRN) will be anonymised in reports and data provided to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council by the survey company.

Why do we collect this information?

To provide planning services and the delivery of the Local Plan.  We are required by law to provide this service.  The ANPR survey is being undertaken to collect information about vehicle movements as part of the evidence base for the Tunbridge Wells Local Plan. The Local Plan will set out the locations for growth in the Borough over the period to 2033. The preparation of the Local Plan will also include consideration of the transport infrastructure/services required to support this growth.
